Car Insurance Yugo (Car Insurance). transfer case grinding HELP?transfer case grinding HELP? I just bought my 1980 international scout, i wanted to make sure the 4wd mechanism was in good shape so i stuck the car in neutral and shifted into 4hi. It was fine then i went from there to neutral then 4lo and it was fine. Then i took it out of 4lo into neutral but when i tryed putting it back in 2hi the transfer case started grinding like crazy and it did the same when i tryed to go back to 4lo. So i cut it off and shifted back in 2hi while the engine was off. Did i damage anything? and wut the heck happened? I'm assuming this has an automatic transmission. This is normal. Even with the trans in neutral, the engine is still able to turn the trans, it's just not enough to move the vehicle. When you shifted the transfer case into neutral, the weight of the vehicle wasn't being transmitted into the transmission, allowing it to turn with the engine. With the trans turning, the input shaft to the transfer case is turning, preventing you from making the shift. I often have to turn my truck off when going from 4 low to 4 hi. It shouldn't have hurt anything. Auto parts : Memory Card Acura 1995 . Memory Saver Alfa Romeo 1996 . Metric Flare Nut Wrench Set Audi 1997 . Metric Hex Bit Socket Set BMW 1998 . Yugo . How to Install a Driver's Side Fog Light on a '98 Dodge NeonThe 1998 Dodge Neon was made available with optional fog lights that improve your visibility of the road in inclement weather. If the driver-side fog light bulb burns out, replace the bulb at home instead of spending time waiting at a service center and incurring a large repair bill. Buy a replacement bulb at an auto parts store or Dodge dealership. The 1998 Neon uses a GE 881 fog light bulb. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Wrench set Jack Jack stands Socket and ratchet Step by Step : 1 Open the Neon's hood and disconnect the negative battery cable with a wrench. Raise the front of the car with a jack and support it with jack stands. 2 Remove the bolt securing the fog light assembly to the radiator support on the driver side with a socket and ratchet. Pull the light assembly forward out of the mounting area. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the fog light bulb, then remove the assembly from the car. 3 Twist the bulb 1/4-turn counterclockwise to remove it from the light assembly. Insert the new bulb into the assembly and turn it 1/4-turn clockwise to lock it in place. Line up the assembly in the mounting area in front of the car. 4 Plug the electrical connector into the plug on the back of the light assembly. Position the light assembly and secure it with the bolt, tightening the bolt with a socket and ratchet. Raise the car slightly with a jack, then remove the jack stands. 5 Lower the car to the ground. Attach the negative battery cable and tighten the connections with a wrench. Close the hood and test the fog lights.
Yugo . Fog Light Installation InstructionsCars have lights installed both in the front and the rear. These automotive lights have their specific purposes, and all are for car and traffic safety. The nature, position and use of these lights are almost always regulated by law. Some lights are mandatory, and some are optional. Included in these optional automotive lights are fog lamps. They are usually installed both at the front and the rear of a car. If you want to avoid an unnecessary cost for a car mechanic, you may want to know how to install fog lights on your car. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Ruler Felt tip pen Masking tape Power drill Rotary cutting tool Fog lamp mounting kit Screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Park the car on an even surface, turn off the ignition and engage the parking brake. 2 Locate the place for the fog lamp, usually on the front bumper. Fog lights are commonly positioned low, near the ground. Look for a factory-made location, such as a round or square indention low on the bumpers. It usually looks like a blind panel, just below or on the bumper. In most cases, there are slats that need to be removed to get a functional opening for the fog lamps. If there is no pre-designed location for the fog lamps on your car, mark one with a ruler, felt tip pen and masking tape. 3 Make the hole for the fog lamps. As previously mentioned, in most cases, it is enough to remove a few slats to create a hole for the lamps. However, if there isn't a fabric-made indentation, use a power drill and a rotary cutting tool to cut off the hole. 4 Mount the fog lamp housing behind the opening, making sure the lamps are properly fitted into the opening. Use a power drill to make small holes for the mounting screws from the kit. 5 Open the hood of your car to access the relay underneath. 6 Connect the wiring from the back of the fog lamp housing to the relay, following the instructions and the wiring scheme from the fog lamp manual and installation kit. 7 Mount a fog lamp switch on the instrument panel, in a pre-made factory designed location preferably. Use a small screwdriver to tighten the mounting screws. 8 Connect the fog lamp switch to the fog light housing, again following the specific instruction from the installation kit for your particular model of fog lamps. 9 Check your new fog lamp by turning it on. Then close the hood if everything is functioning as it should. Tips & Warnings Consult a car electrician if you are unsure how to connect the wiring. Always be careful when working on your car, making sure that the vehicle is safely parked and that the parking brake is engaged. *without warning and refuse to go again. You can find the simple remedy for this problem in the "Fuel" section, earlier in this chapter. Overheating When It Isn't Hot Outside Although hot weather is the most common cause of overheating, many other factors can cause the same problem. If your vehicle overheats in traffic in normal weather, one of the following may be the culprit: * The water and coolant level in the radiator is low. If you haven't checked your fluid level in a while (or ever), check it now, either by looking at the level through the side of the coolant recovery system or by following the instructions in "Check the Radiator" in Chapter 3. * There's a leak in the cooling system. Chapter 14 has an entire section that explains where to look for leaks in various parts of the cooling system and what to do after you find them. 960

Obviously, you can't replace the thermostat at the side of the road, but Chapter 14 has instructions for doing so cheaply and easily once you're safely back home. In the meantime, you can eliminate this malfunction as a possibility if you wait until the engine cools down completely and use those instructions to remove the old thermostat and reconnect the hoses. If the car starts up and runs well without the thermostat, the old one was probably screwing up the works. Get a new thermostat immediately if you find that your old one isn't working. If you drive for long distances without a thermostat, you can damage your engine. * If none of these seems to be the problem and your vehicle continues to overheat, check out "Overcoming Overheating" in Chapter 14. Part IV: Dealing with On-the-Road Emergencies. If \lour Car Won't Start Before I end this chapter, consider those wonderful days when your car won't start. If you left your lights, heater, radio, or some other electrical gizmo on after you parked the car, you know what the trouble is: Your battery is dead. Of course, there are other possible reasons that your car won't start. The next section, "Won't-start symptoms," lists them. The last section, "Jumping a start," explains the safest way to jump-start your vehicle. Won't-start symptoms Yugo . Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. * Your car may not start for a number of reasons. The following list outlines the most common circumstances and tells you what action you can take to try to remedy each situation: * The car is silent when you turn the key in the ignition. Check the battery terminal cable connections (see Chapter 3). If they look very corroded, force the point of a screwdriver (with an insulated or wooden handle) between the connector and the terminal post and twist it to lodge it firmly. Then try to start the engine. If it starts, you need to clean or replace your cables. You can find instructions for cleaning them in Chapter 3. The car makes a clicking noise but won't start. This sound usually means a dead battery. If not, check the wiring to and from the starter for a loose connection. * The car cranks over but won't start. Check the fuel supply to your engine (see "Fuel" earlier in this chapter, and Chapter 13). If that's okay, check whether the electrical spark is getting through (see "Fire," earlier in this chapter, and Chapter 12). * The engine starts but dies. If your car has a carburetor, check your carburetor adjustment and your choke to see whether the choke is first closing and then opening. (Chapter 13 has instructions for both of these checks.) If you have fuel injection, you'll need professional help. Yugo . What are the main obligations of the employers in a garage?

If you find moisture, get some mechanic's solvent from your friendly service station — they use it to clean car parts — or buy an aerosol can of it at an auto supply store. To evaporate any dampness inside the distributor cap, turn the cap upside down and pour or spray some solvent into it. Swish it around and pour it out. Then dry the cap as best you can with a clean, lint-free rag and replace the cap. .Chapter 21: What to Do If Your Car Drops Dead or Won't Start A /j 2 Use only clean solvent; even a tiny speck of dirt can foul the points. Gasoline won't do because a spark can ignite gasoline fumes and cause an explosion or a fire. *" The car won't start on cold mornings. For vehicles with carburetors, check the choke. Is it closed?
